International Stillbirth Research Roundtable
Target Audience
- The Stillbirth Research Roundtable is intended for physicians, nurses, diagnostic medical sonographers, childbirth educators, parents, parent advocates and and others with an interest in the prevention of stillbirth.
Roundtable Objectives
At the conclusion of this educational activitiy participants should be able to:
- Discuss the common causes and incidence of stillbirth in developed countries.
- Identify and discuss emerging areas of interest with potential for stillbirth prevention.
- Identify and discuss stillbirth risk factors and how to partner with parents and families to identify babies at risk.
- Identify resources and opportunities for supporting stillbirth families.
Intended Outcomes
- At the forum, researchers will present their findings and theories to each other and to practitioners and parents
- Researchers and participants will compare their findings, explore connections, and work toward strategies and future collaborations
- Practitioners and parents will have a platform to give voice to their concerns and theories, adding richness and practicality to the conversations
- Strategic prevention messages will be created wherever possible
- Parents and practitioners will network, learn from each other, and add to their coping/care-giving skills and prevention information for subsequent pregnancies
- Parents who have had a stillborn child will receive support and information
- Discussions will occur on raising awareness and funds to further this issue
- One or more videos will be created to be shared with the online community focusing on prevention strategies, enhanced care-giving, bereavement support and awareness
